The Story Behind Steady Shot

Steady Shot featured on the news, demonstrating an insulin injection in the arm for diabetes care. Reusable insulin pen accessory designed for stability, control, and easy site rotation, helping diabetics prevent lipohypertrophy and improve injection comfort.

My name's Shawn and I'm Type 1 diabetic on MDI, diagnosed in 2012.

I was never afraid of needles and could give myself injections relatively easily. It wasn’t a problem until I noticed bruising on my abdomen and thighs—early signs of lipohypertrophy. My doctor always advised me to rotate injection sites to avoid this condition, but I stuck to my abdomen and thighs because they were easiest to reach.

Fast forward a few years...

While attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I took an entrepreneurship class where I learned the best products solve personal problems. That’s when I began developing Steady Shot.

After 3D printing prototypes and pitching my idea, I was accepted into a startup accelerator on campus. With the guidance of incredible mentors, the final version of Steady Shot was born, and soon the product became market ready.

Sincerely,

Shawn Michels
